The climate of most of the region is tropical rainy. The mean temperature is
always above 22oC. During the hottest part of the year, from April
to June, the mean temperature ranges between 30oC and 50oC(Highest
temperature recorded in May, 1998). With the onset of the south-west monsoon,
the temperature falls appreciably, particularly in July.
The mean maximum temperature ranges from 27oC to 30oC in
January and from 34oC to 45oC in May which is the hottest
month. Maximum temperature of 47oC to 48oC has been
recorded in a number of nearer stations. Rajahmundry recorded the highest
temperature of 50oC on the May, 1998.
The mean minimum temperature varies widely from 17oC to 25oC
in December, which is the coolest month, to 27oC or 28oC
in May and June.
